Re:
Dear Mr(s)._______________:
Teaching for many years, I greatly enjoyed working with infants for two years during my time with the University of Dayton Children’s Center. Small children are fun to interact with, and [to my surprise] I always find the energy to keep up with them.
I attended numerous workshops — just in the last couple of years — from child sensory development and talking to your adopted foster child to addressing today’s challenges and basic immunization and health precautions. Accentuating these experiences, I also hold an associate’s degree in early childhood special education along with an extensive degree of teaching experience that began in the 1980s.
What you’ll find unique about my background is that I’ve been trained to work with infants, developmentally and academically disabled, and general public students up to elementary level. I found working with babies to be the most fascinating, hence, the reason I’m applying for this position. I trained in the use of Madga Gerber techniques, so the children I worked with learned through movement exercises and visual stimulation.
Career Highlights –
- Substitute teacher and teaching assistant within various school districts that included curriculum development, classroom management, progress reporting, and as-needed responsibilities (e.g. Coordinator for annual Spelling Bee for 6 consecutive years)
- Participate in the classroom, physical education, and extracurricular activities
- Implement a hands-on curriculum for academically challenged students needing added attention and extra assistance for academic growth
Let’s schedule a time to discuss this position, and allow me the opportunity to answer questions concerning my background. Call me at (XXX) XXX-XXXX or XXX-XXXX for a meeting in the next few days or early next week.
Thank you for giving my request your consideration.
Sincerely,
